Philosophy:
First of all I feel that if a team is going to win any
type of meaningful championship they have to feel as if
they actually deserve to win based on their preparation.
If I would take over a team I would have to come in and
put the team through a series of very hard workouts to
get them feeling like they have sacrificed enough to
actually deserve to win. They may have talent but they
need to be broken down both physically and mentally
because they will not feel like they have paid any kind
of price to actually deserve to win. I characterize
myself as a modern disciplinarian. I push players very
hard but I do it in a very energetic and very positive
way. If a player needs to be scolded or broken down I
have absolutely no problem what so ever doing that. I've
coached many NBA players and have always been a coach
that they keep in touch with after the season is over
because of the respect that I eventually get from all my
players. If this is a real option I would need to be
able to come in and have absolute control over how my
team approaches the game of basketball on the court. Let
me tell you that if you say that this team is talented
enough, in your opinion, to win this season then I know
I can come in and in a short time have the team playing
with the best chance to win. I tell you now that I am
supremely confident in my ability to win games in a
short time. With regards to the player's talent level in
relation to the players here, I tell you this. I coached
High School basketball here for 6 seasons when I was in
my early years of coaching. I have always felt that it
is a coaches responsibility to develop players and I
always try to develop my individual players skills no
matter what level they are currently at physically.
